Goals for 2017

I am not one to make new years resolutions because I know I'm not going to stick to them. I did however, decide to write down a few goals for the new year. I believe that if you right it down you are more likely to follow through. So this is an overview of some of my goals, and how it is going.

1. Read through the entire Bible.  I have attempted this more than once, and I have finished it never.  We are midway through February and I am ahead in my ready.  I have been using the audio NIV on biblegateway.com, and that is a game changer for me. I had no idea I could listen to it and take it in as well as I am. I've had to stop and go read it for myself sometimes because I'm learning things I had never remembered learning before now.  I encourage you to try the audio bible even if you don't think you learn best by listening.

2. Get Healthy. I have a goal to exercise at least 3 times a week. I had done this and more up until I got the flu. Until yesterday it had been about 2 1/2 weeks since I had exercised. I started again because I have come too far to stop now!  I also really have been enjoying the exercise I'm doing.

3. Create more. (there were several things listed under this, one was sew more). I started a quilt

Here are nine of the 13 squares I have done. I am using precuts and making a logcabin pattern.  I have 8 squares left to make, then I will decide on how I am going to put it together. I am really enjoying this process.

So those are just some of my 2017 goals, mostly the ones that have updates. I am pleased with my progress.

Have a blessed day

Bad moods

We were headed home from my mom and dad's the other day. As is  often the case the radio was tuned to K-Love and  was playing in the background.

I had been in a lousy mood all day, couldn't seem to shake it, and was thinking, I can't seem to get out of this. Then my daughter says regarding the song that had just been playing, "Mom, my favorite part of that song is when it says, "when i call on Jesus, nothing is impossible" I said "I can't" and God said through my daughter if I call on him I can. God sent me a message, reminding me to call on Him for everything.  Praise the Lord.

I thought I would share the lyrics to this song.

Call on Jesus by Nicole C. Mullen

I'm so very ordinary
Nothing special on my own
Oh, and I have never walked on water
And I have never calmed a storm
Sometimes I'm hiding away

From the madness around me
Like a child who's afraid of the dark

When I call on Jesus, all things are possible
I can mount on wings like eagles and soar
When I call on Jesus, mountains are gonna fall
'Cause He'll move Heaven and earth to come rescue me when I call

Weary brother, broken daughter
Widowed, widowed lover, you're not alone
If you're tired and scared

Of the madness around you
If you can't find the strength to carry on

When you call on Jesus, all things are possible
You can mount on wings like eagles and soar
When you call on Jesus, mountains are gonna fall
'Cause He'll move Heaven and earth to come rescue you when you

Call Him in the mornin', in the afternoon time
Late in the evenin', He'll be there
When your heart is broken and you feel discouraged
You can just remember that He said, He'll be there

When I call on Jesus, all things are possible
You can mount on wings like eagles and soar
When I call on Jesus, mountains are gonna fall
'Cause He'll move Heaven and earth to come rescue me when I call

When I call on Jesus, all things are possible
I can mount on wings like eagles and soar
When I call on Jesus, mountains are gonna fall
'Cause He'll move Heaven and earth to come rescue me when I call
You can listen to it below.

O to be like Thee

I had Great is Thy Faithfulness going through my mind, and often when that happens I sit down at the piano and play and sing it. Which usually leads to going through the hymnal and having my own personal worship time. As I did this I turned to O to be like Thee. I sang the first verse and realized we often only used the chorus for the pre prayer time song at church. I sang the second verse and realized that in this song was the cry of my heart.

Vs 1 starts like this

Oh, to be like Thee! blessed Redeemer, This is my constant longing and prayer. Gladly I'll forfeit all of earth's treasure, Jesus, Thy perfect likeness to wear.

Chorus
Oh, to be like Thee! Oh, to be like Thee. Blessed  Redeemer, pure as Thou art! Come in thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness; Stamp Thine own image deep on my heart.

Vs 2

Oh, to be like Thee! Full of compassion, loving, forgiving, tender and kind, Helping the helpless, cheering the fainting, Seeking the wand'ring sinner to find!

Vs 3
Oh to be like Thee! lowly in spirit, Holy and harmless patient and brave; Meekly enduring cruel reproaches, willing to suffer others to save

The song continues on, but  I bolded the portion in verse 2 because that has been my prayer over the last week. Lord fill me with compassion. With compassion comes a loving, forgiving, tender and kind spirit.

I find this often in my time at the piano. God meets me there, let me know my prayers have been heard. So I must go on singing, and share this blessing with others. God knows the cry of our heart, he hears our prayers. What an encouragement to know He cares for me, and you.

Have a blessed day!
