Finally a sunny day!!

too bad I am exhausted. I took some nyquil last night because I kind of felt like I was getting a cold...Nyquil did not help me get my ZZZZs. In fact it was 330 this morning before sleep came. My alarm went off at 5. I did not get up. I turned it off. I got back up at 630 to get my family ready for the day. I did lay down after taking the kids to school, but I didn't sleep.

My vision is kind of blurry, lack of sleep does that too me. I did keep my hair appointment for today.

So when I got up this morning I looked like this (well, this is after a shower and makeup ha)

I know I am not smiling, but all of my smiling pics looked goofy.

and after the girl who's name I don't know worked her magic

My instructions were I want a bob, and side swept bangs, other than that I don't care. The pic doesn't really do it justice. It is pretty cute! I did almost fall asleep tho while she was drying my hair. I am tired!

This week is teacher appreciation week. So I  made card sets for the kids teachers.

Rebecca's teacher said she didn't even know it was Teacher appreciation week.

I did some sewing this week as well. I took a pair of Rebecca's jeans and made capris and made a long sleeved shirt a short sleeved one.

Also this week, Ryan learned to blow a bubble with his gum. He is very excited about this.

Ryan

Just some randomness about my boy that I want to remember.

We were driving home from the movie store and in a very serious voice he says, "Mommy, I hate to have to tell you this" dramatic pause "I picked my nose during reading"

Me not exactly sure what he said, "what did you say"

Ry "I've said it, and I'm only saying it once"

(yes I laughed at the time and I did again just re-living the moment)

"Mama, if you burn up your eyes looking at the sun, will you still be able to see?"
me: "I don't know Ry"
Ry: "If you look at the sun you are blonde"
Me: "what blonde? do you mean blind?"
Ry: (laughs a little) "Oh yeah, blind, I'm blonde" (laughs some more)
Ry: "daddy says you can still see"
me: Ok

I told him to pick up his room, I'm not sure exactly what all he did in his room, but it did get better, however in effort to stall he pulled out a piece of paper and a pen to make a to do list, complete with check boxes. HA
toys, shoes, stuffed animal (stuf), alien head

He came back to the kitchen to add books to the list after I took the photos. It was super cute, but mostly he was just stalling!

We took his training wheels off of his bike last night, that did NOT go well. He ended up in tears because he wasn't immediately successful. And I thought his sister was hard to teach to ride a bike!

Have a blessed day!

Everyday

my son does or says something that just makes me smile.

This morning he was working on a drawing, which his sister complimented and recognized (this was nice and unusual), he held it so I couldn't see it because he wanted it to be a surprise, but he laid it on the counter and it got wet, he came in holding it, so I said, "is that spiderman" thankful I had heard him tell his sister it was, but he started to cry, he said, "yes, but it got all wet and I can't finish it" I told him I would hang it up to dry and he could finish it after school. He smiled and said, "thanks mama" {smile}

Yesterday, morning I could tell Ryan was being very quiet, and thought he probably wasn't getting ready for school. I asked him, "Ry, are you getting ready for school?"
Ryan said, "oh I forgot, I was looking at the newspaper"

I had to giggle, and he got ready and we made it to school on time.

Then this morning, we were at the school, and he kissed me bye, and says, "my mouth is minty and I don't even have a mint" (he used a mint toothpaste instead of his usual orange flavored one)

Everyday, he brings such sunshine to my life!

Have a blessed day!

View of the back seat

So we met Jon Monday at school to go out for Valentine's Day, and it was very very quiet in the back seat, which usually means one of 2 things, they are being sneaky, or asleep. I adjusted the rearview mirror to take a look and this is what I saw.

I tried not to laugh. You may wonder what on earth they are doing. They are playing their Nintendo DS's. Because they are back lit, in bright light they are hard to see, so they took off their coats to create a darker environment. I thought it was funny, and pretty smart too. I enjoyed the quiet the rest of the trip with a smile.

It has been beautiful weather this week. So thankful for the break from ice and snow, and I love the sunshine. It makes my heart sing! Rebecca hadn't ridden her bike since last fall, and was nervous about no training wheels, Ryan chose his scooter over his bike, and is nervous of learning to ride with no training wheels too, I think he will get it easy, he just doesn't want to do it yet.

Of course, at some point Ryan decided he was tired. ha!

About to finish up reading 1000 gifts, and then I am going to read it again. This morning, frustration won out over seeing the gifts. I got a reminder that this is a discipline, thanking God for everything, and it does require practice.

We are starting a new Bible Study at church called Crazy Love, by Francis Chan, which from what I can tell (I just got my book) ties right in with what I have been learning from 1000 gifts. In fact, the pastor said before dismissing last evening, to try this week to be thankful, and instead of praying always asking, give thanks. I thought, that is exactly what I have been doing, giving thanks for everything. Rebecca has even found it fun to find things to be thankful for, she was listing things while we waited for our table at Outback on Valentine's Day, it gave me the opportunity to talk to her about being thankful, and then of course, the rest of this week has been filled with battles, but I am still a work in progress!

This morning I thanked God for

French Bagel

Have you ever had a french bagel? Me either, and honestly I don't even know if they exist. My son however asked for a french bagel for breakfast. I looked at him I'm sure with a curious look and asked what? He again said, "I want a french bagel."
I looked at him and smiled and said, "Do you mean an English muffin?" He giggled and said, "yeah, I want one of those"

He is so funny.

Have a blessed day!

Yesterday

I woke up with a bug. EEWWW i'll skip the gross details, but thankful that I feel a million times better today.

My boy was so sweet yesterday, I was laying in bed, and he climbed in next to me and said,

"mommy, i want to talk to you"
Me: "okay"
Ry: "I'm sorry you are sick"
Me: "thanks bubby"
Ry: "You can have my blankie and entucky bear until you feel better"(all while tucking them in next to me)(he said entucky instead of kentucky)
Me: "Thank you I already feel better"

he grinned and jumped down.

I thought that was so sweet.

There is this thing that has taken over our home

called LEGOS.

he was acting silly

then got involved in finishing the jet

(please ignore the dirty dishes)

we have a so many, but I cannot complain because they are so very loved.
Ryan put this jet plane together all on his own, except I snapped in the windshield. He loves them.

Today, I have a rather long to do list, but banana bread and soap making are on the top of it. I have laundry in already. I have my bible reading done for the day (altho I don't really like how that sounds, it is so much more than just something to check off of a list)

Hope you have a blessed day

Happy New Year

I cannot believe it is already 2011. So this is a bit of a catch up post, as I have been on a bit of a blogging break.

We had Ryan's birthday party

We also had a snow day as my last post indicated. The kids had a blast sliding down our hill out front.

And of course there was also Christmas morning at home.

Christmas at Mamaw and Papaws

Christmas at HoHo Papaw and Grammies

I remembered this morning I was going to try the photo a day for a whole year, and I am already behind. ha! No time like the present to start though!

My baby lost his first tooth

I knew it would happen soon. He actually has another loose tooth as well. The tooth fairy brought him a Googles webkinz (it is a white duckbill platypus) he named it Domino. He said multiple times, "I was braver than Rebecca" There was no drama, and no tears. He was so proud of himself it was adorable.

I cannot believe how fast time seems to be moving! They grow so fast

Have a blessed day

Halloween 2010

the kids had a great time at Trunk or Treat. Jon took them because I was at work. I am so glad they got to go.

Rebecca has wanted to be a "prairie girl" ever since we went to Conner Prairie in August. So it was the perfect thing for halloween and her favorite character day at school (a day only for second graders to dress up has a character they love and do a little oral report on. Her fave character is Felicity an american girl from the colonial time period, but in her mind it is prairie)

I made her dress from a vintage sheet she picked out and the apron and bonnet are also from a sheet. I am so pleased with how it turned out.

Ryan was the Bumblebee transformer. Now he got his costume on Thursday of last week...yes a bit last minute, but that is because the boy could not decide what he wanted to be. Indiana Jone, Darth Vader, a prairie boy, and the it went around again. Well Indiana Jones is not available at Walmart, and a prairie boy would have required some sewing on my part, he was not at all into Darth vader once he was holding the costume, he picked up optimus prime (another transformer) but decided he liked the yellow one better so that is what he got.

Hope you have a blessed day

First day of School 2010

It is a big day at our house. My baby is going to kindergarten. Both kids were so so so so so excited for school!!!

They were ready early for their first day!

Monte (my brother) was home a couple weeks ago and he came to our house. We took him to dinner at our local Mexican place, and then we went to the County Fair. The kids love their Uncle Monte, he's really just a big kid!!

My son loves loves loves maps.
My sister gave him this world atlas, and he loves it. He has looked at it everyday, driven his lego cars on it, and just sat on it pretending. He is learning where the different states are because he wants to know! I love when kids learn on accident!!
The other morning I heard him talking and went to see what was going on and this is what I found...

I have a long to do list for today! Not that I have to get it all accomplished today, but I have a bit of a schedule in place for myself, hopefully I can keep it up!!

Hope you have a blessed day!
